WWE India: John Cena misses tour, wrestlers suffers from injury streak
WWE is India but without John Cena and other popular superstars; all eyes on Roman Reigns to make the tour a success.
Jan 15: World Wrestling Entertainment’s India tour kicked off from today in Delhi’s Indira Gandhi Stadium. WWE World Heavy Weight Champion Roman Reigns, WWE Divas Champion Charlotte, Big Show, Dolph Ziggler, New Day, Titus O’Neil, Ryback amongst others. While all of these stars perform; the absence of superstar John Cena is surely a disappointment. (Read: WWE in India: Virender Sehwag teaches Charlotte, Dolph Ziggler cricket)
John Cena suffered a shoulder injury in his shoulder and posted on social media that he will need surgery. Because of the damage sustained, he will not be able to wrestle for the next 6-9 months. WWE quickly revamped their posters and promotions, and Roman Reigns became the showstopper for the two-day event in India. The return of Wrestlers in India, including first timers like Charlotte and Dolph Ziggler, is after a gap of 13 years.
However, in the recent months, WWE wrestlers in their multitude have been suffering from an injury. As pointed by many people that all the WWE champions from Wrestlemania 31 are not injured or out of action. The list is long, and it includes John Cena, Seth Rollins, Cesaro, Randy Orton to name a few. This beggars the question: What is happening inside WWE? The answer the question is of course not simple as wrestlers have suffered due to a variety of reasons. If one looks at the WWE wrestlers like Roman Reigns or Seth Rollins for example, it is visible that the fighters are thoroughly exhausted. They almost wrestle every day and including India tour, they will have a total of 14 days of performance. This includes travel to and fro and promotional events. It is a miracle in itself that the wrestlers are still standing there and performing their tasks.

Watching WWE Raw or Smackdown, it is obvious that the show is now really long. An old WWE match used to last for about 15 minutes now stretched to a 25-30 match brawl. Wrestlers like Seth Rollins or John Cena have to do this not once in a week but almost every day. With such a hefty schedule; it is inevitable that they suffer injuries and need to take respite. WWE in India is great for the wrestling fans as well as the company, but with the loss of top performers and fan favorites, the show will visibly lack its mainstream appeal. The company is in bad shape as more and more of its wrestlers are getting injured, and the weekly shows have the same wrestlers fighting off their opponents as well as exhaustion.
