WWE Raw Results and Review for March 7: Shane McMahon kicks off show; Chris Jericho turns heel; Dean Ambrose steals spotlight!

As the ‘Road to Wrestlemania’ has kicked off, week after week Monday Night Raw is turning more intriguing for the fans. WWE is heavily promoting the scheduled ‘Hell in a Cell’ bout between Shane McMahon and the The Undertaker. Meanwhile, the creative has something solid in store for the ‘lunatic fringe’ Dean Ambrose. Although, it is Roman Reigns who has been booked to compete with Triple H for the World title at the ‘grandest stage of ’em all’, Ambrose is the one who has been stealing the spotlight for past few weeks. More interestingly, he has vowed to spoil the ‘Authority’s proposed main event at Wrestlemania by winning the title at Saturday’s Road Block.

Shane O’Mac and Vince McMahon take it to a whole new personal level

For the first time over a decade, Monday Night Raw was kicked off by Vincent Kennedy McMahon’s prodigal son Shane McMahon. The rivalry between the two has stooped to a whole new personal level. While Shane did not refrain from cursing his father and involving Vince’s grandchildren in the mix, his father made him a victim of diabolical deception:

Kevin Owens vs Andrelle Neville

The two wrestlers hailing from independent circuit do not fail to impress the fans with their talent. While Owens played his heel persona in full effect, Neville emerged as a strong competitive opponent. Owens won the match via roll-up pinfall. It it was after the bout was over did Owen attempted to decimate Neville by piledriving him on the mats. However, Sami Zayn made his return with a huge pop from the fans and indulged in a short brawl with arch rival Owens.

Winner: Brie Bella
Match Rating: 1/5

Dean Ambrose eyes the World Heavyweight title…before Wrestlemania

Dean Ambrose’s mic skill is second to none in contemporary WWE. In yet another promo, the lunatic fringe succeeded in provoking Triple H. Ambrose reiterated that he would capture the World Title before Wrestlemania, even if that destroys the main event planned by the ‘Authority’ at Wrestlemania.

Sneak peak into Shane O’Mac’s in-ring ‘hardcore’ career

At this point, WWE is heavily relying on Shane McMahon vs The Undertaker at Wrestlemania to draw PPV buys. However, a large chunk of WWE’s audience are the young wrestling fans who have not experienced the ‘Attitude era’. In order to push the 46-year-old Shane O’Mac as a serious contender against  The Undertaker, WWE aired the short highlight of his career during the show twice.

Dolph Ziggler vs League of Nations in an Elimination Tag Match

A match set-up randomly by Stephanie McMahon turned out to be decent contest. Without a doubt, Dolph Ziggler is the most creatively misused character in WWE. On the other hand, the League of Nations, which was proposed to be a powerful, anti-US faction has now turned into a pawn of the authority. Ziggler was pitched up against Sheamus, Rusev and Wade Barrett. While Ziggler succeeded in eliminating Barrett, Sheamus subsequently concluded the match with a brogue kick.

Winners: Sheamus, Rusev & Wade Barrett
Match rating: 2.5/5

Chris Jericho & AJ Styles vs The New Day for World Tag Team titles

The newly formed team of Chris Jericho and AJ Styles, Y2AJ, were locked into a contest with New Day’s Kofi Kingston and Big E Langston. It was surely the match of the night. AJ Styles looked to be in top form, which reminisced his days of TNA. Interestingly, the match also resulted in a big push for New Day who emerged victorious by winning the closely fought battle. However, after the bout, Jericho once again turned heel. He smashed AJ with three back-to-back ‘codebreakers’ holding him responsible for the match loss.

Winners: The New Day
Match rating: 4/5 (PPV quality bout)

Big Boss Man in WWE Hall of Fame

Revered professional wrestler Raymond Traylor, best known for his stint as the Big Boss Man in WWE is the latest inductee in the 2016 Class of WWE Hall of Fame. Traylor was a prominent figure of WWE programme during the 90s. He died in 2004 succumbing to cardiac arrest.

Dean Ambrose vs Bray Wyatt

Before Saturday’s Road Block PPV, Triple H decided to put Dean Ambrose in a contest with the creepy Bray Wyatt. The match did not have a conclusion as the entire Wyatt family arrived at the point when Ambrose was seeming to for the kill. After decimating Ambrose, the Wyatts left him for ‘Triple H’ who arrived in the ring to further assault Ambrose. However, Triple H was into a shocker as Ambrose bounced back and nailed ‘The Game’ with a double-arm DDT.
