Jan 21: World Wrestling Entertainment, WWE’s monthly paper-per-view Royal Rumble is just around the corner and predictions for the winner are rampant on the internet. Never before has the WWE World Heavyweight Championship been defended in a 30 man battle royal and Roman Reigns may win this match. But if he does win then what will happen at Wrestlemania? Why Roman Reigns might win Royal Rumble?
WWE always has similar storylines. A fan favorite ‘Babyface’ persona is standing against the authority figures: McMahons. The beloved superstar is beaten and thrashed every week leading up to the main event match at pay-per-view. At last, at the PPV, the beleaguered superstar wins against all odds. This time and tested method of WWE has worked before: John Cena, Daniel Bryan, Undertaker, Shawn Michaels, Hulk Hogan, Stone Cold Steve Austin, and Roman Reigns himself. The difference this time is mammoth task against Roman Reigns. If the current trend of booking and previous track records is considered, somehow someway Roman Reigns might win this Royal Rumble. It is entirely possible that all the factions and teams might disintegrate once they step inside the ring. It has also happened before that tag team partners turn foe for the chance at headlining Wrestlemania and none of the tag team partners actually ever win. So, with that in mind, we can eliminate League of Nations, Wyatt Family and definitely the Social Outcasts.
Coming back, Roman Reigns wins the Royal Rumble. What will happen next?
McMahons will be standing next against him and Wrestlemania. They did everything so it will be foolish to try again. They do not have Brock Lesnar so they can’t use Brock as a henchman for Wrestlemania. They would have nobody strong enough to face Roman Reigns but themselves. This is where Triple H will return.
He will not be the corporate version of the Game; he will be the cerebral assassin. The Game Triple H will be set loose and he will be using his sledge hammer. Roman Reigns is already the biggest superstar on the roster. Triple H has been one of the best villains or ‘Heels’ of WWE of all time. He can make the entire rivalry worthy of Wrestlemania. Granted, they both have fought off against one another before. But WWE and Wrestlemania are full of historic matches that have been repeated numerous times to get the best of them. Undertaker vs Triple H, Undertaker vs Shawn Michael, John Cena vs Rock and finally The Shield vs The Evolution.
What about Brock Lesnar? Bray Wyatt?
If WWE does decide to pitch Roman Reigns and Triple H for Wrestlemania, then the other superstars need a strong opponent for the same. Considering the chaotic nature of Royal Rumble, there is a huge probability of Brock Lesnar or any of the rest getting eliminated. Whoever eliminates the Beast is the opponent. Similar instances have happened before too and the recent attack on Brock Lesnar on Raw by Wyatt Family might be an indicaton of what is to come at Wrestlemania.
