Jan 12: World Wrestling Entertainment took the world by storm as it announced its first inductee for the WWE Hall of Fame class of 2016. On this week’s WWE Raw, John Bradshaw Layfield announced the culmination of an illustrious 30-year wrestling career of the Icon Sting. Although, Sting made his debut in the WWE just last year and fought only two matches, he made an impact the moment he stepped into the ring. So far, only Triple H, Big Show and Seth Rollins have had the honor of fighting against the Franchise Sting in a match. There would have been more of Sting’s matches if not for the injury sustained at Night of Champions.

56-year-old Sting has done it all; he has been the fan favorite and been a corporate henchman in his career. In his debut in Memphis wrestling scene to a partnership with Ultimate Warrier, he was quickly recognized as an upcoming talent. Then came the career-making match against Nature Boy Ric Flair for the NWA Championship, which ended in a draw. However, he made a name for himself and after that contest, Sting and Ric Flair intermittently resumed their feuds. Sting’s career reached the peak with WCW as he became the best-named athlete there. At the time when other WCW wrestlers were jumping ship and moving on to WWE and other companies, Sting stayed loyal to the company and climbed the ladder. He fought with every great name including Goldberg, Ric Flair, The Giant, Hulk Hogen and so on. After staying away from WCW when he first appeared at WWE, he elevated the company to new heights.

Although there is no news about Sting’s health, it is almost sure that the Icon will not be competing in this year’s Wrestlemania 32 and only WWE 2016 Hall of Fame. Also, Sting has yet to make a TV appearance since his injury, and if that happens in the following weeks on Raw or Royal Rumble, it will be a spectacle to behold. IMAGE CREDITS: TWITTER
