Barely 48 hours before the Elimination Chamber, WWE Smackdown had no big names to highlight their show, yet, it slowly continued its build-up towards Wrestlemania 36 with the return of the Firefly Funhouse and a high-octane tag-team gauntlet match, in which Dolph Ziggler and Robert Roode picked up the win. But the biggest attraction of the show was Bray Wyatt appearing in a newly-decorated Firefly Funhouse. The portraits of all those The Fiend had decimated, were replaced by frames with John Cena’s pictures and after the Rambling Rabbit revealed it was Wyatt’s loss to Cena six years ago at Wrestlemania 30 in New Orleans that made The Fiend ask Cena to a match at Tampa Bay, Florida on April 5. “Time can either hurt you or it can heal you. Inevitably, the dark side comes again. But that…that’s the beauty of a circle,” Wyatt said. Also Read - WWE Smackdown Results: Returning John Cena Accepts The Fiend's Wrestlemania Challenge
After The Bella Twins highlighted the Moment of Bliss, this week it was another Hall of Fame inductees to grace the show – The NWO. Scott Hall opened the show with his trademark catchphrase “Hey Yo,”, followed by Kevin Nash weighing in on the Goldberg vs Roman Reigns match at Mania.
They were interrupted by Sami Zayn, Cesaro and Shinsuke Nakamura. After Waltman was taunted for never winning the Intercontinental Champion, the Nakamura challenged the NWO to a match, only to deny the Hall of Famer the opportunity to get “the rub” from them. Strowman emerged and ploughed through his three opponents on Sunday to close the segment.
The main event featured a pulsating tag-team gauntlet match, with the Heavy Machinery looking favourites to win. Otis and Tucker were on a roll, seeing off The New Day, Lucha House Party, The Usos and the Miz and John Morrison. But a post-eliminated assault saw the former tag champions assault Tucker and Otis. Still, Heavy Machinery resiliently got back up but failed to notice Ziggler’s tag. The Showoff landed a thunderous Super Kick on Otis to pick up the win.
