The World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) fans hope of seeing John Cena and Undertaker in the ring at the upcoming Wrestlemania 35 event have been dealt with a major blow as reports have surfaced that there will be no match between the duo. Amidst rumours that there could be a surprise rematch of the previous year’s edition of the pay-per-view, it is believed that the Undertaker will not feature in the event at all, whereas Cena could have an appearance in store, if there would be a match too is yet to be ascertained.

With Hall-of-Famer Kurt Angle set to retire in Wrestlemania, many fans wanted him to have a face-off against Cena but were disappointed when it was announced that he will face Baron Corbin. Angle had faced Cena in his debut match and it would have almost been poetic if he would have been the former Olympic champion’s last opponent.

The Undertaker has always made his presence at Wrestlemania and for the longest time, he was considered as the face of the grand event with his famous undefeated streak almost repeatedly making headlines in the news following the event. From a fans’ perspective, even a match between Kurt Angle and Undertaker would have been something to look forward to. From the company’s perspective, it would have garnered a lot of attention.

Speaking on the Wrestlemania 35 event, Brad Shepard and Jon Fisher from the ‘Oh, You Didn’t Know’ Podcast said: “WWE is now operating as if The Undertaker will not be at WrestleMania, which is a big surprise to people internally. They did expect he would probably at least appear, they would work it out. But it doesn’t look like that’s going to happen now. At least as of right now, they’re operating as if he won’t be there.”

They then discussed John Cena’s chances to turn up. They were confident that unlike The Undertaker, Cena might still appear at WrestleMania in some capacity.

“WWE are considering having John Cena interrupt Elias’ performance at WrestleMania.”

The professional wrestling entertainment fan base still remain hopeful of seeing the two superstars.
