Chennai: A shocking incident has emerged from Chennai, where a 52-year-old teacher was arrested on Thursday in connection with the sexual abuse of two girl students at a panchayat union school near Tiruttani. According to the police, Bhaskar, a Mathematics teacher, allegedly abused a Class 6 student and a Class 9 student at a government higher secondary school. The teacher reportedly committed the abuse after summoning the two minors to the staff room.
Both the girls ran back to their classrooms to save themselves from the teacher and did not disclose the sexual abuse to anyone, Times of India reported, citing police sources. The girls told their parents about the misconduct, and the parents subsequently lodged a complaint. They also informed the Child Welfare Committee (CWC).
A case has been lodged under relevant sections of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, based on the complaint filed by the victims. The accused has been remanded in judicial custody.
