New Delhi: India is gearing up for its biggest political event which takes place every five years, one where the people of India exercise their vote to elect the government for the next five years. The Lok Sabha Elections 2024 will be organised in a total of seven phases and the first phase will take place on April 19, 2024. The last phase will happen on June 1, 2024 and the counting of votes, i.e. final decision will be announced on June 4, 2024. On phase 1 of the upcoming polls, voting will be conducted for constituencies of various states and that list also includes Tamil Nadu. Erode Constituency Of Tamil Nadu

Erode is one of the 39 parliamentary constituencies of Tamil Nadu and is on the banks of River Kaveri; the constituency has a total of six legislative seats and one of them is for the Scheduled Castes (SC). These six seats are Kumarapalayam, Erode East, Erode West, Modakurichi, Dharapuram and Kangayam. One of the largest producers of turmeric, Erode is also a textile hub and is a house to many small and medium-scale industries.

Erode Constituency: Political Parties

The major political parties that will be contesting in the Erode Constituency during the Tamil Nadu Lok Sabha Elections 2024, are the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK), the All Inda Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK), Tamil Maanila Congress-Moopanar (TMC(M)) and the Naam Tamilar Katchi (NTK).

Erode Constituency: Key Candidates

Speaking of the key candidates for the Erode Constituency from the different political parties, it is KE Prakash from DMK, Aatral Ashok Kumar from AIADMK, P Vijayakumar from TMC(M) and Karmegam from NTK. In the last elections, i.e. the Lok Sabha Elections 2019, A Ganeshamurthi of DMK won with 563,591 votes and G Manimaran of AIADMK came second; the registered voters in the 2019 elections for Erode constituency were 14,62,246. AIADMK’s S Selvakumara Chinnayan was the winner of the Lok Sabha Elections 2014 and the registered voters then were 13,21,399.
