Tamil Nadu News: MDMK Lok Sabha MP A Ganeshamurthi was hospitalised on Sunday after he reportedly consumed insecticide in an alleged suicide attempt. As per the police, Ganeshamurthi, the sitting MP from Erode, complained of uneasiness on Sunday morning and was rushed to a private hospital.
“Ar around 9:30 AM on Sunday, Ganeshamurthi developed uneasiness and was admitted to a private hospital here by his family members. After check-up, he was admitted in the ICU and was put on ventilator,” the police said.
After the MP was hospitalised, reports emerged that he may have attempted suicide. A Times of India (TOI) report quoted a member of Ganeshamurthi’s family as saying that the MDMK leader complained of uneasiness at around 8:15 AM in the morning.
The family member told TOI that Ganeshamurthi said he had ingested insecticide-laced water. As per the TOI report, preliminary information revealed that the MP consumed ‘sulphas’ — insecticide-laced water — in an attempt to end his life by suicide.

Asked about reports that the parliamentarian might have attempted suicide, authorities at the private hospital in Erode town, where he was initially referred to, refused to comment.
The MP was later shifted to a private hospital in nearby Coimbatore, with two doctors and his family members accompanying him in the ambulance.
His condition is stated to be critical, according to reports.
MDMK leader Durai Vaiko, who visited Ganeshamurthi at the hospital said the Erode MP was under ECMO treatment and his condition was critical.
