Apple drops iOS 26.2 with massive Apple music upgrade and handy iPhone tools – full details inside

Apple rolls out iOS 26.2 with major Apple Music upgrades, offline lyrics, smarter playlists, and new iPhone features aimed at improving everyday usability and personalised entertainment.

Apple has released iOS 26.2 update for iPhones across the globe. The major changes include an improved Apple Music app as well as a slew of refinements across its most used iOS apps and the operating system itself.

The update is now available for download and users who are eligible will be able to download and install it. Some of the new features include better personalisation and some quality of life changes to the Apple Music app. Here is all that you can expect with the update.

Offline Lyrics: Apple has added lyrics for songs in your Apple Music Library, even if you are offline. This is perfect when you are on a flight, or a long journey, or are in an area with a poor network.

Favourite Songs at Top Picks: The new “Favourite Songs” playlist will now show in the Top Picks in the home tab of the app, which makes it easy for users to get to their favourite songs quickly, with one less swipe.

Bug Fix: The update has also fixed the issue of a small delay before songs began to play when opening albums which were recently released.

This builds on the visual fluidity and touch-responsive Liquid Glass interface the company added to Apple Music in the latest iOS 26 update. The visual and UI flourishes have also been expanded to other core apps like Music, Podcasts, Videos and Messages, along with elements of the iOS core like the home screen, Control Center, iMessage, Safari, and notification center.

Reminders App Now Has Alarms: With the latest update, users will be able to set alarms for Reminders.

AirDrop: One-time codes for AirDrop transfers with new or unrecognised contacts have been added, which will prevent accidental AirDrop transfers.

Lock Screen Customization: The opacity of Liquid Glass on the Lock Screen can now be changed with this update.

Apple Podcasts: The Podcasts app has also received some updates, including automatic chapter generation for new episodes and improved navigation between chapters in longer episodes.

Who will get the update?

The update will be available for iPhone 11 and newer devices. You can get the update by heading to Settings > General > Software Update on your iPhone and following the on-screen instructions. It is recommended that you back up your phone if you would like to be safe.
