California – Apple is expanding the capabilities of its Apple Intelligence platform, unveiling a suite of powerful new features across its device ecosystem—including iPhone, iPad, Mac, Apple Watch, and Apple Vision Pro—at WWDC25. These updates bring advanced AI-driven capabilities to users while maintaining Apple’s steadfast commitment to privacy, with a key focus on on-device processing.
Among the most notable updates is the rollout of Live Translation, a feature that offers real-time translation within Messages, FaceTime, and Phone calls—powered entirely on-device to ensure personal conversations remain private. This feature is expected to be a game-changer for global communication, offering real-time voice and text translation during conversations.
Apple is also enhancing creative expression with enmoji and Image Playground, allowing users to mix emojis and generate images using text prompts or ChatGPT’s visual styles. In the Photos app, Visual Intelligence extends the capability to understand content on-screen, allowing users to search for similar products, events, or information based on what’s visible—essentially turning the iPhone screen into a searchable interface.
The Apple Watch gets its own dose of intelligence with Workout Buddy, a new fitness experience using personalized real-time data and AI-driven voice insights based on the user’s workout history and progress. It combines AI-generated coaching with privacy-preserving, on-device processing.

Perhaps most significantly, Apple has opened the on-device foundation model of Apple Intelligence to developers through a new Foundation Models framework. With native Swift support, developers can integrate Apple’s generative AI features into their apps with just a few lines of code. This move enables apps to offer smarter, more personalized features—even offline—without compromising user privacy or incurring cloud costs.
Shortcuts also get more intelligent, allowing users to leverage Apple Intelligence or ChatGPT within workflows. Whether it’s summarizing class notes or creating custom images, these intelligent automations are now more capable and customizable.
Additional enhancements include smarter reminders, enriched Wallet order tracking, customizable polls in Messages, and deeper integration of Writing Tools, Clean Up in Photos, and Siri.
Apple confirmed that Apple Intelligence features will roll out to more languages by the end of the year, including Danish, Dutch, Portuguese (Portugal), and Vietnamese.
In an era where AI and privacy often seem at odds, Apple is positioning itself as a pioneer of **private, powerful, and personalized intelligence-bringing generative AI to millions of users without sending their data to the cloud.
