BSNL announced their all new calling pack for Rs 339, which is quite similar to the packs that have been launched by other telecom operators in the country. The BSNL Rs 339 pack has some major benefits like on the face of it, it seems to be offering double the data that Reliance Jio and others are offering for a similar price. Reliance Jio set the data trend rolling with their Jio Prime membership where they are offering 1GB data per day for approximately Rs 10. BSNL’s new pack is offering double the data at a similar price point. Also Read - PM Modi Takes First Dose of Coronavirus Vaccine at AIIMS, Delhi

According to the latest plan of BSNL, users who do a recharge of Rs 339 can avail 2 GB 4G data per day for 28 days, making it a cool 56 GB data for 28 days instead of the 28GB offered by others. There is also free calling and SMS. However, while it does seem awesome and perfect, the plan comes with one major catch. The “free” calling is not unlimited as initially advertised by BSNL. The free calling is restricted to just 25 minutes per day. After the limit is exhausted, BSNL users will be charged a fee of 25 Paise per minute. The charges on the calls are nominal but only 25 minutes free per day seems more than a little measly. As compared to other operators, the plan is definitely less effective. While other operators are offering free data along with free calling, BSNL has taken away the free calling aspect and instead, upped their data. While the plan does sound like a boon to those who use a lot of data and after Jio are hooked to excessive downloads daily, it is definitely for those who need their phone for calling and SMS purposes. You can now stream and watch videos right in your Gmail Inbox, no need to download it! In a statement, BSNL said, “The benefits customer will get under the Combo STV (special tariff voucher) of Rs. 339 are unlimited calls in BSNL network and unlimited data with fair use policy of 2GB per day with validity of 28 days.” There is no mention of free SMS and it is unclear if the free SMS service will be for unlimited SMS or just like calling, will there be a cap on it too. The new plan will be available for 90 days, which means a BSNL user can do a recharge of Rs 339 and avail benefit a maximum of 3 times.
