New Delhi: Facebook, the popular social-networking site, resumed services early on Thursday morning, hours after facing outage in some parts of the world on the intervening nights of March 13 and 14. Besides, similar problems were faced by users of messaging app WhatsApp and Instagram too.
Earlier on Wednesday night, the messenger was not functional on the desktop and on mobile phone which made it difficult for them to send or receive messages. Users also faced problems in posting new content on their walls and pages. The problem was similar in most parts of the world including India. Meanwhile on Instagram, posts weren’t loading, Instagram Stories was down, new content couldn’t be posted and direct messages were also not working.
Facebook users trying to login into their account on Wednesday night and Thursday morning encountered this message: “Facebook is down for required maintenance right now, but you should be able to get back on within a few minutes. In the meantime, read more about why you’re seeing this message. Thanks for your patience as we improve the site.”
Addressing the problem on its Twitter account, the social networking website posted, “We’re aware that some people are currently having trouble accessing the Facebook family of apps,” it wrote. “We’re working to resolve the issue as soon as possible.”
Adding, it said, “We’re focused on working to resolve the issue as soon as possible, but can confirm that the issue is not related to a DDoS attack.”
