Pokemon Go, the game that unleashed a craze all over the world is finally all set to come to India. Call it Niantic Inc’s (the company that made Pokemon Go) Christmas and New Year’s gift for all Indians, the game that rules hearts and was responsible for massive havoc (albeit of the good kind) in the world is finally coming to the country. Indians have been huge fans of Pokemon and right since the game launched, they have been dying for an official release. However, as there was no official release in sight, most Pokemon Go Indian fans just downloaded the game from third party market places and used it. The rush to play the game was equally intensive even in India and Indians did not really care that the game had not launched. Although the official launch was desperately awaited, they did not really let this dampen their spirits.
But then, finally the wait for Indians is over as Pokemon Go is finally all set to come to India. Niantic Inc is launching Pokemon Go in the country tomorrow. And what’s even more exciting is – Reliance Jio has tied up with Pokemon Go. Does this mean Reliance Jio users get more powerful Pokemons and get better Pokemons? Pshaw! No. But then Reliance Jio stores and outlets will be Pokestops or Gyms for Pokemon Go users! With the queues of people waiting outside these stores to get their free Reliance Jio SIM card, why not utilise the time and grab a few Pokemons in the meantime? Reliance Jio, which is giving tough competition to all other networks and is slowly leading to one of the most intensive telecom operator wars in the country has taken this next step to get the youth hooked onto Reliance Jio through one of the most popular and addictive games of 2016 – Pokemon Go.
But that is not all. Reliance Jio is going one step ahead and is upgrading their chat app, JioChat with a new feature for all Pokemon Go players. Under this new feature, Pokemon Go players will be able to access an exclusive channel – the Pokemon Go channel. For all those who are a part of this channel, there will be additional tips and tricks, hacks, contests, daily tips and even special events that will be shared. All players can interact and socialise with other players. This will help users level up faster and they can even share their tips and tricks between themselves. Pokemon Go game has managed to completely captivate the youth and is one of the most engaging games. Reliance Jio already has a massive userbase in the country and through this move, they can expand their base even further and get even the youth to try out their network. The app coming to the country finally will also help Indians access a lot more features and fun tricks which they initially did not know about. John Hanke, Chief Executive Officer and founder of Niantic said with regards to the tie-up, “We are delighted to partner with Jio to launch Pokémon GO in India. It’s exciting to see Pokémon fans in India step out and explore their neighbourhoods in search of Pokémon and Jio’s disruptive high speed 4G LTE Network will be an excellent way to experience the game.” Mathew Oommen, President Reliance Jio also commented on the partnership saying, “With over 500 million downloads globally, we are excited to launch Pokémon GO officially in India on the Reliance Jio network. Our partnership with Niantic not only brings access to the Pokémon GO app but also opens the door to more opportunities for our customers to enjoy content on Jio’s one-of-a-kind mobile broadband network.” And while, we can see everyone getting super excited about this whole thing, all those already playing the game, all set to go and seek out Reliance Jio stores in the country now? Eh?
