Redmi 4A to launch in India today, expected to be priced at Rs 6000

Redmi 4A is expected to be priced around Rs 6000, corresponding to its China price CNY599. Similar to previous generation Redmi 3 series, the device is said to be correspondingly succeed Redmi 3S.

Xiaomi, the Chinese smartphone manufacturer is all set to launch their next, Redmi 4A in India today, exactly two months later from their first smartphone launched this year. The company earlier confirmed that the handset will be Amazon India exclusive, unlike Redmi Note 4 which has been Flipkart exclusive. Alongside, the latest budget handset would also be available on Mi.com.

Redmi Note 4, launched in January 2017, is reportedly breaking all the previous records set by Xiaomi in India and now company plans to bring another budget smartphone in the country, Redmi 4A. Redmi 4A is expected to be priced around Rs 6000, corresponding to its China price CNY599. Similar to previous generation Redmi 3 series, the device is said to be correspondingly succeed Redmi 3S. Redmi India, earlier teased the smartphone in a tweet, however didn’t mention the name categorically. Although, the teaser image hints clearly of Redmi 4A.

In terms of specifications, Redmi 4A sports a 5 inch HD IPS display  in a metal-unibody design and runs on Android Marshmallow 6.0. It is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 425 chipset and packs 3120mAh battery with fast charging support. It has 2GB RAM along with 16 GB internal storage, expandable over Micro-SD card. The budget handset lacks a fingerprint sensor and has Micro-USB port for charging and connectivity.

In terms of optics, Redmi 4A has a 13 megapixel rear camera and 5 megapixel front camera for selfies and video calling. The device is expected to launch in three color variants – dark grey, gold and rose gold.

Xiaomi and Amazon India, first partnered in year 2015 for the launch of Redmi devices, followed by Amazon exclusive launch of Redmi Note Prime in December 2015. The company also launched Redmi Note 3 in March 2016, exclusively on Amazon and it went on to become one of the most successful device of the year. Redmi Note 3 is best selling smartphone online of 2016, claims the company. Followed by the success of Redmi Note 3, the company now has successor Redmi Note 4 setting new records for it.

According to a report, the company announced to have sold over 1 million Redmi Note 4 units in 45 days from the first sale.  Redmi India claims it to be the fastest million for any of their handset, launched in India till now. Redmi 4A is expected to fall in the same line of breaking records, looking at the strategic pricing and specifications offered in the range. Redmi 4A could go on its first sale today, right after the launch, as hinted by Amazon India listing.
