Reliance Jio to Launch 10 Crore Smartphones This Year – Report
Reliance has sold about 33 percent of its digital arm Jio platforms. Private equity firm Silver Lake Partners will invest Rs 7,500 crore for a 1.75 percent stake in Reliance Industries Limited (RIL).

Now Reliance Industries Ltd (RIL) ‘s telecom unit is set to manufacture more than 10 crores (100 million) low-cost smartphones amid the occupation of Chinese mobile companies on the Indian market. According to reports, these phones will launch in Indian market with data packs in December 2020 or early next year. It is being said in the reports that Jio’s cheap 4G Android smartphones will be launched in partnership with Google. A few months ago, Google announced an investment of $ 4.5 billion in Reliance Jio. In July this year, Jio had said that Google is working on a cheap Android version and will also offer its mobile phones equipped with this version. The cheap 4G smartphone from Google and Jio might increase concern for smartphone makers like Samsung, Xiaomi, and Nokia.

At the same time, the company also meditate on the thought that it is not easy for everyone to buy expensive 4G smartphones. This was the occasion when the company thought of launching a 4G feature phone. After this, the company not only launched its first 4G feature phone but also kept the price of only Rs 1,500. Reliance hit the market with having potential target users and this is the reason that it started providing Jio mobile phones with attractive offers.
Reliance said in July 2020 that Alphabet Inc’s Google would invest $ 4.5 billion in its digital unit. Reliance chairman Mukesh Ambani said in July that Google would build an Android operating system (OS) to build a low-cost 4G or 5G smartphone, which Reliance would design. Again in July, it was reported that Reliance Jio is working on JioPhone 5. Jio Phone 5 will also be a feature phone and will also have 4G support. Jio Phone 5 will be the light version of Jio Phone, which can be priced at Rs. 399. This phone will also get Kai OS like Jio Phones 1 and 2, that is, you will be able to use apps like WhatsApp, Facebook, and Google on this phone. If this happens, then Jio Phone 5 will be the cheapest 4G phone in the world. It is being said in the report that the testing of Jio Phone 5 is currently underway.

These investors include Facebook, Google, KKR, Silver Lake, and TPG.
