Samsung is all set to unveil a new range of its smartphones right at the start of the year. While with the new year, we will also see CES or the Consumer Electronics Show, which is expected to be the launchpad for multiple gadgets and smartphones tyis year, looks like Samsung is giving CES a skip and is instead launching their all new Galaxy A series locally. No, the launch is not scheduled to happen in India but smartphones under the new series will be launched in Kuala Lumpur on January 5th. Samsung has already begun sending out invites for the Kuala Lumpur event. As Samsung is also scheduled to launch devices at CES, it is speculated that the Kuala Lumpur launch might be a local version of the Galaxy A series smartphone whereas the global version will be at CES, the date for the launch being unknown.
Samsung is expected to launch not one but 3 devices under their Samsung Galaxy A series. All three devices will be in different price brackets, ranging from the upper mid range to the budget series and will come with specifications accordingly. The series will not be named anything new but are expected to be called Samsung Galaxy A3 (2017), Samsung Galaxy A5 (2017) and Samsung Galaxy A7 (2017) respectively. The smartphones will share certain features like the processor and in the case of the Galaxy A7 and the Galaxy A5, even the camera. All the three smartphones have been much leaked in the past and the devices specifications are known to a great extent. the devices are expected to continue their line forward and the phones will bring in changes but will still stay true to the original phones in the series.
Samsung Galaxy A3 is the smallest while Samsung Galaxy A7 will be the largest in the new lineup. The A3 is expected to come with a less than 5-inches display. The display will be 4.7-inch AMOLED HD display and under the hood will be a 1.5GHz octa-core Exynos 7870 processor. The phone i expected to come in only 1, 16GB internal memory variant with 2GB of RAM. It is unclear whether the phone will be pwowered by Android Nougat or Android Marshmallow as it is the budget series smartphone. In terms of design, there isn’t anything spectacular we expect but then, the design will follow the current flagship, Samsung Galaxy S7. There is no clarity on the camera of Samsung Galaxy A3. Coming to the other two smartphones, Samsung Galaxy A7 will be the biggest with a 5.7 inches display and Samsung Galaxy A5 will be smaller with a 5.2 inches display. The smartphones are both expected to come with 16 MP rear end cameras. Additionally, Samsung Galaxy A7 is also rumoured to be water and dirt resistant. Samsung has been focusing on launching strong devices and getting back in shape before they unveil the Samsung Galaxy S8 – the success of which can effectively make or break Samsung after their Samsung Galaxy Note 7 debacle. While Samsung has not stopped launching devices after the failure of Samsung Galaxy Note 7, in the recent past, their number of launches have definitely reduced and the focus is now on launching that one strong new flagship to tackle the failure of the Note 7. Rumours have also suggested that Samsung will be launching just one flagship a year henceforth instead of multiple and that the launch of Samsung Galaxy S8 has been considerably delayed.But then, with the launch of the three A series smartphones, Samsung plans to begin the year with a blast and continue their series, without any hesitation. It will be one of the most major Samsung launches of the year and the expectations from the smartphones are high.
