Just three more days to go and we all will be on the other side of 2016, stepping into new times. Talking about time, it reminds us of a line-up of smart watches, which made buzz this year. When smartwatches were introduced for the first time, it was believed they would not be able to compete against conventional smartwatches which apart from time add a statement to the personality, as most of the earlier smartwatches has these plastic wristband and didn’t go well on more than one occasions. With time smartwatches has redefined and year 2016 saw some of the most ravishing smartwatches in terms of design and spiked up specs for better performance.

Where already established smartwatch makers like Apple, Samsung and Motorol launched new generation of their existing wearable gears. Many new player entered the arena as well. Fitbit being major player in fitness band introduced their smartwatches too, whereas premium watch makers Fossil launched their refreshed line-up of products as well. Just this week, Asus launched their Zenwatch successors too. Here are top smartwatches, we think had a good time in 2016.

Asus Zenwatch 3

The Zenfone series by Asus has already received praised for great specs and decent pricing of the smartphone. In 2016, Asus launched Zenfone 3 Series of smartphones and last week only it unveiled their 3rd generation of Zenwatch. Before we further tell you what Zenwatch offers, we would like you talk about the beauty, Zenwatch 3 is. It looks classy and are better than what we see of Apple Watch or Samsung Gear, hands down! The three-button design gives this Asus smartwatch looks of a conventional fashion accessory. Personalization on Asus Zenwatch 3 offers upto 5o faces. The battery as claimed by the company lasts for 2 days. Asus Zenwatch 3 runs on Qualcom Snapdragon Wear 2100 and supports HyperCharge for charging battery upto 60 percent in 15 minutes. The watch sports a 1.39″ AMOLED display with 2.5D Corning Gorilla Glass 3. Also, Zenwatch 3 comes with IP67 water-resistance rating and protects against accidental water splashes.

The Asus ZenWatch 3 has been made available in three variants in India. Starting at a price of Rs 17,599 it goes upto Rs 18,999 for the three variants – Silver case with a Beige Rubber strap, Gunmetal case with a Brownish Grey Rubber strap and Gunmetal case with a Dark Brown Leather Strap. Zenwatch 3 is compatible to both iOS and Android.

Motorola Moto 360 2nd Generation

The second edition of Moto 360 smartwatch by Motorola has certainly got beefed up specs than its previous versions. However, shortcomings of Android Wear itself has been taking toll on many smartwatch makers, as there comes nothing sort of surprising a times. Moto 360 2nd Generation smartwatch is compatible with both iOS and Android devices. The smartwatch runs on Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 APQ802, clocked at 1.2 Ghz and comes with a 4GB internal memory. Moto 360 2nd Generation watch have been popular among the tech-enthusiasts and it’s being sold out on most of the e-commerce platform is the testimony.


Priced at Rs 18,899, Moto 360 2nd Generation smartwatch sports a metal center build and comes with IP67 water-resistance rating.

Apple Watch Series 2

Apple unvieled the Apple Watch Series 2 at the event held in September 2016. There Cupertino company introduces its first ever waterproof smartwatch. Apple Watch Series 2 available in two variants – 38mm and 42mm case sizes are waterproof upto 50 meter depth. The latest Apple watches are available in three color variants – space grey, silver and rose gold. Buyers can choose from various straps such as  sport, woven nylon, leather and stainless steel straps.

About performance, Apple Watch Series 2 is powered by second generation dual-core S2 chip processor that is 50 percent faster than the previous Apple Watch. The new GPU also offers beefed up graphic performance. Being Apple, you can expect the device to be heavily priced. The 38mm Apple Watch Series 2 Stainless Steel Case stars at a price of Rs. 56,900, while the 42mm variant starts from Rs. 60,900. The Apple Watch Series 2 ‘Edition’, sporting a Ceramic Case is priced at Rs. 1,10,900 for the 32 mm variant and Rs. 1,14,900 for 48mm variant.

Samsung Gear S3

Samsung Gear S3 is the latest offering by the company to its smartwatch series. The two variants available are a elegantly brushed silver stainless steel Classic and a sportier Frontier in a dark grey steel casing packs the essentials of Gear S series with new features added. The watch is still to make its debut in Indian markets and have generated some rave reviews for itself. The Frontier model with 4G LTE support along with Samsung Pay features can replace the smartphone and wallet in your hand. The Strap Studio for Samsung Gear S3 includes rubber padded strap bands along with leather bands to choose from. Apart from dropping notification, the watch can track activity for its users.


As the watch is currently not available in India and there is no official word on its pricing in the country. However, better specs and features make us watch out for the latest edition Gear S3.

Fossil Q CrewMaster

After Fossil Q Founder, the company has introduced Fossil Q Crewmaster and Fossil Q Marshall, the latest one to join the Fossil smartwatch bandwagon. After years of making mechanical watches, Fossil ventured into smartalwatches arena and they have been slightly be able to bridge the gap between classic watches and smartwatches.


Fossil Q Crewmaster with a silicone rubber strap and a sized up dial makes a big statement. The watch comes with a curved glass on the top and is water-resistant upto 50 meters. Sporting three-button design on the side, the watch looks dressier and is tougher than it looks. The watch is hybrid of a fitness and activity tracker, with a classic watch and notifier as a smartwatch. Priced at Rs 14,995, Fossil Q crewmaster clearly is one of the most amazing smartwatch with a price that puts others at side.
