Uber has introduced a new time-based service to its slew of ride services in Mumbai, UberHIRE to let users book on-demand rides and take tour across the city, while your Uber cab will wait for you, similar to private taxi services. The services already piloted in Kochi and is now extended to several Indian metro cities. ‘UberHIRE is a time-based Uber that’s available on-demand, to let you explore and travel around cities knowing that your Uber will wait for you. Uber riders can avail UberHIRE ride services at a minimum price of Rs 600 in Mumbai and Rs 649 in Delhi, book a ride for as long as 6 hours at a minimum price of Rs 1440 or take a city tour ride with Uber at minimum of Rs 2160. According to the announcement made by company, riders can book an Uber ride for a maximum of 12 hours in Mumbai and 10 hours in Delhi. “UberHIRE is one such product that addresses the unique commuting needs of riders in India, especially that of tourists, business travellers, senior citizens and working professionals by letting them book an Uber and use it for upto 12 hours,” Apurva Dalal, Head of Engineering, Uber India, said in a statement. Notably, UberHIRE service can availed only on payments by cash as the company doesn’t accepts Paytm, credit or debit cards presently for the time-based service. Users would be able to hire similar vehicles in UberHIRE as available in UberGo, Uber X and Uber XL. Also the city limits remain same from the corresponding services.

To book a UberHIRE ride:

  • Open the Uber app on your device.
  • Slide up to the UberHIRE view, set your pickup location and request your ride as you do to book standard ride.
  • Users using the updated Uber app will have to push the UberHIRE card, appearing at the bottom of the disply, set your pickup location and request your ride

UberHIRE services will be available between 6AM till 10 PM in Mumbai and is available 24X7 in Delhi. Riders would not have to pay for fuel recharge and the cost has to be beard by the driver only.
