School In Telangana's Mancherial Vandalised After Principal Questioned Students Wearing Saffron Attire To Campus

Hyderabad: A missionary school in Telangana's Mancherial district was vandalised and attacked after the principal questioned some students wearing religious attire on campus. After a complaint was filed by the students' parents, police have registered a case against two staff members, including the principal, under sections related to hurting religious sentiments and promoting enmity between different groups on grounds of religion.

Giving details, the officials at Blessed Mother Teresa High School in Kannepalli village stated that principal Jaimon Joseph noticed that some students were wearing saffron attire to school two days back. When he asked them about this, they said they were observing Hanuman Deeksha, a 21-day ritual.

Later, the principal asked the students concerned to bring their parents to school so that he could discuss this.

Then, the matter got escalated to a great extent when one person shared a video on social media and claimed that the principal was not allowing Hindu students to wear attire on campus.

After the video went viral, a mob attacked the school and vandalised the properties on the campus.

Several videos on the social media showed saffron-clad men raising Jai Shri Ram slogans and shattering window panes as terrified teachers with folded hands urge them to stop.

After the violence intensified, police reached the spot to control the situation and were seen removing the protesters from the school corridors.

In the video, it was seen that some people surrounded principal Joseph, beat him up and forcibly applied tilak on his forehead. In the meantime, the protesters demanded an apology from the school.
