The Delhi Police Monday issued a summon to Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy in connection with its investigation in the circulation of ‘doctored’ videos of Home Minister Amit Shah.

Officials said Reddy has been served a notice, asking him to join the investigation in the case on May 1. The Congress leader has reportedly been directed to bring his mobile phone along, according to Delhi Police sources.

As per sources, the Delhi Police is likely to summon at least five more persons for questioning in the case, including some Congress leaders, who allegedly shared the edited video of Amit Shah on their social media pages.

They said these five persons will be questioned by the Delhi cops to determine who made the doctored video of Shah and how it reached these persons.

All of these five people are said to be residents of Congress-ruled Telangana, the sources said, adding that a team of Delhi Police team currently in Hyderabad in connection with the case.

Delhi Police registers FIR

On Sunday, the Delhi Police had registered an FIR in connection with doctored videos of Union Home Minister Amit Shah being circulated on social media platforms.

As per officials, the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) had filed a complaint in this regard, based on which, the Special Cell of the Delhi Police registered an FIR under various sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and relevant provision of the IT Act.

Citing sources, a PTI report said arrests in the case are likely to follow across the country.

The complaint, filed by Sinku Sharan Singh, DC, Indian Cybercrime Coordination Centre (I4C), stated that some doctored videos are being circulated on social media with “the intent of creating disharmony among communities which is likely to affect public tranquility and public order.”

The complainant also attacked links from which the videos were shared were also attached for further action, the police said, adding that a copy of the FIR was also sent to the IFSO unit of the Delhi Cyber Police.

According to sources, the Delhi Police also wrote letter to  X and Facebook, seeking information the social media platforms regarding the source of the doctored clip of Amit Shah and the account from which the video was first shared.
