Entrepreneur Kavita Shukla, named this week as one of the “5 Most Innovative Women in Food” in TIME magazine, and the inventor of the product FreshPaper – made with organic spices – which helps keep fruits and vegetables fresh for longer, has made her debut on HSN Network with FreshPaper Bread-Saver Sheets – the first all-natural bread saver on the market.
FreshPaper started as Shukla’s middle school science project, inspired by a home remedy from her grandmother. She first began selling handmade FreshPaper at a local farmer’s market in Cambridge, MA. FreshPaper became a grassroots phenomenon, and she was inspired to found Fenugreen – a social enterprise taking on the massive global challenge of food waste with this simple innovation.
Shukla holds four patents, and was the youngest woman ever to receive the INDEX: Design to Improve Life Award – the world’s largest prize for design (previously awarded to Tesla and Apple). She has spoken about the power of simple innovation to audiences around the globe, including at SXSW, the Women in the World Summit, the Global Entrepreneurship Congress, and at Harvard, MIT, and Johns Hopkins.
She was recently invited to testify in Congress about how her simple idea, which started as her middle school science project, went global. Kavita was also featured as one of the “7 Entrepreneurs Changing the World” by Fast Company and on the Forbes “30 under 30” list. She holds a BA from Harvard University.
