Alia Advani or Kiara Advani as she is better known, is an Indian actress who is often seen in Hindi and Telugu films. She made her Bollywood debut in 2014 with poorly received comedy Fugly. She achieved commercial success in 2016 when she starred in sports biopic M.S. Dhoni: The Untold Story which was followed by 2017 movie Machine.
Following that she got a role in the 2018 Netflix film Lust Stories, which consisted of four short film segments directed by Anurag Kashyap, Zoya Akhtar, Dibakar Banerjee, and Karan Johar and a sequel to the 2013 anthology film Bombay Talkies.
Kiara then went on to star in Telugu political drama Bharat Ane Nenu opposite Mahesh Babu. The movie became one of the highest-grossing Telugu films. In 2019 she starred in another Telegu film, Vinaya Vidheya Rama, which was followed by Kalank and Kabir Singh. In Kabir Singh she starred opposite Shahid Kapoor and the movie was one of the highest-grossing Indian films.
Kiara Advani was born on July 31, 1992 to Jagdeep Advani, a Sindhi Hindu businessman and Genevieve Jaffrey, a teacher of Sindhi, Scottish, Irish, Portuguese, and Spanish ancestry. Born as Alia Advani, she changed her name to Kiara prior to the release of her first film, Fugly. In an interview to Filmfare in 2019, she revealed that the inspiration behind her name change came from the movie Anjana Anjani in which Priyanka Chopra's character was named Kiara.
She only has a younger brother, Mishaal, but her family includes a number of celebrities from her maternal side. Actor Ashok Kumar was her step-great-grandfather, actor Saeed Jaffrey her great-uncle, and Shaheen Jaffrey and actress Juhi Chawla her aunts.
Apart from acting, Kiara has also appeared in a number of magazines and ads. She also has in her kitty four other movies, namely, Good News, Laxmmi Bomb, Shershaah and Indoo Ki Jawani. Apart from Good News, which releases in 2019, the other three hit screens in 2020.
