Koena Mitra

Koena Mitra is an Indian actress and model who works in the Hindi film industry. She made her Bollywood debut in 2004 in movie Musafir, which starred actors Anil Kapoor, Aditya Pancholi, Sameera Reddy and Sanjay Dutt in lead roles. She also is a contestant on reality show Bigg Boss 13 airing in 2019.

She was first seen on-screen in 2002 movie Road, in which she had made a special appearance in item number Khullam Khulla Pyaar. The thriller had starred actors Manoj Bajpayee, Vivek Oberoi and Antara Mali. In 2003, she made another special appearance in item song Koduva Meesai in Tamil movie Dhool which had featured Vikram, Jyothika and Reemma Sen in the lead roles.

Koena's first proper role came in 2004 with movie Musafir. The movie landed in controversy because it featured some sensual scenes, but it was declared a hit and was the eighth highest-grossing Hindi film of that year.

2005-2015:

In 2005 and 2006, Koena starred in movies Ek Khiladi Ek Haseena, Insan, and Apna Sapna Money Money (2006). Ek Khiladi Ek Haseena was a remake of the 2003 Hollywood crime movie Confidence and it was Koena's first lead role. In movie Insan she had a supporting role, and in Apna Sapna Money Money she starred alongside a host of other big stars and the movie was a success at the box office.

Koena then made a special appearance in the song Heyy Babyy in the movie with the same name in 2007, and followed it with 2008 movie Anamika, starring alongside Dino Morea and Minissha Lamba. In 2009 she made a special appearance in item number Honey Honey in Tamil movie Ayan, and in 2010 had a supporting role in Tamil movie Asal. In 2015, she had a supporting role in Bengali movie Besh Korechi Prem Korechi.

PERSONAL LIFE:

Koena Mitra was born on January 7, 1984 in Kolkata, West Bengal and she attended the South Point High School and Lady Brabourne College in Calcutta, and has a major in psychology. She trained with the Mamata Shankar ballet troupe for 12 years and attended the Lee Strasberg Theatre and Film Institute.

MODELLING:

Koena pursued a modelling career while in college, and in 2001, she won the Gladrags Mega Model India 2001 beauty pageant. She later became one of the top-12 semifinalists of Miss Intercontinental Pageant in Germany out of 84 countries.
