Pooja Hegde is an Indian model and film actress who works predominantly in the Telegu and Hindi film industries. She made her movie debut in 2012 with Tamil film Mugamoodi which also starred actors Jiiva and Narain.
In 2014, Pooja featured in Telegu movie Oka Laila Kosam alongside actor Naga Chaitanya, and the film got decent reviews upon its release though it was declared a hit at the box office. In the same year, she starred in Telegu movie Mukunda opposite actor Varun Tej, and though the movie got decent reviews, it failed to perform at the box office.
Pooja then made her Hindi movie debut in Mohenjo Daro opposite actor Hrithik Roshan in 2016, and the film got mixed reviews and was declared a major box office flop. In 2017, Pooja starred in Telegu movie Duvvada Jagannadham alongside Allu Arjun, and the movie was a commercial success.
In 2018, Pooja featured in three Telegu movies, namely, Rangasthalam, in which she made a special appearance in the song Jigelu Rani, and then Saakshyam, in which she starred opposite Bellamkonda Sreenivas, and lastly opposite actor Jr. NTR in Aravinda Sametha Veera Raghava, which was declared a commercial success.
After a few hits and misses, Pooja then starred in Telegu film Maharshi alongside Mahesh Babu and Allari Naresh in 2019. The same year she starred in Telegu film Gaddalakonda Ganesh alongside actors Varun Tej, Atharvaa, and Mirnalini Ravi, and in Hindi movie Housefull 4 alongside Akshay Kumar, Riteish Deshmukh, Bobby Deol, Kriti Sanon, and Kriti Kharbanda. The latter was a huge commercial success. She will next be seen in 2020 in Telegu movies Ala Vaikunthapurramloo, and in Jaan.
Pooja Hegde was born on October 13, 1990 in in Mumbai, Maharashtra to Manjunath Hegde and Latha Hegde, who are from Mangalore, Karnataka and she has one brother. Her mother tongue is Tulu, and she is also fluent in English, Marathi, and Hindi. She studied at the Mithibai Motiram Kundnani College of Commerce & Economics, and has completed her M.Com.
Pooja was a contestant in the Miss India 2009 competition winning the Miss India Talented 2009 honour before she was eliminated. She tried again the following year and became second runner-up in the Miss Universe India 2010 competition. She was also crowned Miss India South Glamorous Hair 2010 in the subsidiary competition.
