Rishabh Pant

Rishabh Pant is a professional cricketer who plays for team India and for the Delhi Capitals in the Indian Premier League. He made his first-class debut on October 22, 2015 in the 2015–16 Ranji Trophy and his List A debut on December 23, 2015 in the 2015–16 Vijay Hazare Trophy.

During his domestic career, he scored 308 runs in an innings while playing a match against Maharashtra in the 2016–17 Ranji Trophy, making him the third-youngest Indian to score a triple century in first-class cricket. Pant then scored the fastest century from just 48 balls in Delhi's match against Jharkhand in the Ranji Trophy on November 8, 2016.

Pant was named Delhi's captain for the 2016–17 Vijay Hazare Trophy in February 2017, taking over from Gautam Gambhir, who had led Delhi to the final of the previous season. Then on January 14, during the 2017–18 Zonal T20 League fixture between Himachal Pradesh and Delhi, he scored the second-fastest century in a Twenty20 match, making 100 from 32 balls.

PERSONAL LIFE:

Rishabh Pant was born on October 4, 1997 in Haridwar, Uttarakhand to Rajendra Pant and Saroj Pant, and has an elder sister. He was trained under Tarak Sinha at the Sonnet Cricket Academy at the age of 12, travelling with his mother to Delhi during the weekends for it. Sinha had suggested Pant switch to Rajasthan for better cricket opportunities, and he played for the state at the U-14 and U-16 level but failed to impress the coaches. To save his career, Pant moved back to Delhi.

INDIAN PREMIER LEAGUE CAREER:

Pant's turning point came when he was playing Under-19 cricket for Delhi against Assam. He was bought by Delhi Capitals during the 2016 Indian Premier League (IPL) auction for Rs 1.9 crore from a base price of Rs 10 lakh, and on the same day, he scored a century for India U-19 in the World Cup, guiding India into the semi-finals. He holds the record for the fastest 50 in U-19 World Cup history.

During the 2018 Indian Premier League held in May, Pant scored 128 not out from 63 balls against the Sunrisers Hyderabad. It was then the highest individual score by an Indian cricketer in a Twenty20 match, surpassing the previous record held by Murali Vijay but later broken by Shreyas Iyer who scored 148 runs for Mumbai.

INTERNATIONAL CAREER:

Pant was named in India's Twenty20 International (T20I) squad in January 2017 against England, and he made his debut in the third T20I at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bangalore on February 1, 2017. He became the youngest player for India to debut in a T20I match at the age of 19 years, which changed when Washington Sundar, who made his debut in 2017 at the age of 18 years 80 days, arrived 120 days later.

In July 2018, Pant was named in India's Test squad for the series against England, and he made his Test debut on August 18, 2018. He scored his maiden Test century against England on September 11, 2018 and became the second-youngest wicket-keeper and the first Indian wicket-keeper to score a Test century in England. He was named in India's One Day International (ODI) squad in October 2018 against the West Indies, and he made his debut on October 21, 2018.

During the first Test against Australia in December 2018, Pant took eleven catches, which was the most by a wicket-keeper for India in a Test match. Pant also became the first wicket-keeper for India to score a century in a Test match in Australia in January 2019. In September 2019, during the second Test against the West Indies, Pant became the fastest wicket-keeper for India to affect fifty dismissals in Test cricket.[41]

AWARDS:

Pant was named the ICC Emerging Player of the Year at the 2018 ICC Awards in January 2019, and also won the Stylish Player award.
