Aahana Kumra

Aahana Kumra is an Indian television, film and theatre actress who works predominantly in the Hindi film industry. She made her Hindi movie debut in 2013 with Sona Spa alongside Naseeruddin Shah, Shruti Vyas and Pooja Pradhan.

She has starred in a number of short films, namely, Mai (2009), Cardboard Thoughts (2010), Ansuni (2013), Siberia (2015), Dreaming Awake (2015), Ek Tha Main (2015), and Queen of Hearts (2016). Aahana won Best Actress Award at the Third Moida International Awards for her short film Siberia.

Where television is concerned, Aahana played the role of a clapper girl in American television miniseries Bollywood Hero in 2009, then in 2014 in Indian television psychological thriller miniseries Yudh, alongside actor Amitabh Bachchan, and in 2015 in Indian crime fiction anthology television series Agent Raghav – Crime Branch.

WEB SERIES:

From 2016 to 2019, Aahana featured in a number of web television series like Official Chukyagiri, Inside Edge, It Happened In Hong Kong, Official CEOgiri, Rangbaaz, and Bombers. She also hosted the Prokabbadi 2016 series.

MOVIES:

After Sona Spa in 2013, Aahana starred in Tulu movie Kudla Cafe (2015), The Blueberry Hunt (2016), Lipstick Under My Burkha (2017), and The Accidental Prime Minister (2019). She was nominated for Best Actor in a Supporting Role – Female at the Star Screen Awards for her role in Lipstick Under My Burkha, and in The Accidental Prime Minister, she played the part of Priyanka Gandhi Vadra. She won the Dadasaheb Phalke Excellence Award 2018 for the Most Promising Fresh Face of the Year for the film Lipstick Under My Burkha.

UPCOMING:

Aahana will next be seen in Shamshera, an action-adventure film starring Ranbir Kapoor, Sanjay Dutt and Vaani Kapoor, and in web series Betaal produced by Shah Rukh Khan and Marzi opposite Rajeev Khandelwal.

PERSONAL:

Aahana Kumra was born in May 1985 in Lucknow and moved to Mumbai during her childhood. She shifted from La Martiniere Girls College in Lucknow to Mary Immaculate Girls High School in Mumbai. After she completed her schooling, she got involved with the Prithvi Theatre in Mumbai, and even after earning a degree in Commerce and Economics and a vocational advertising diploma from HR College in Mumbai, she realised that a desk job was not for her. She joined the first batch of Whistling Woods to learn everything there is to know about acting and to further solidify her talents.
