Abdullah Azam, son of senior minister of Uttar Pradesh, Azam Khan, has marked his entry into politics this year. The 27-year-old engineer son of Azam Khan made his debut from Suar. This is one of the five constituencies which fall under Rampur district of Uttar Pradesh
Abdullah on his political career was quoted by Hindustan Times saying,” Suar, from where I am contesting hasn’t been a stronghold for the Samajwadi Party and so my career of politics will start from a difficult pitch.”
Azam Khan is an eight-time MLA from Rampur and Abdullah is hi youngest son. Abdullah’s mother, Tazeem represents Samajwadi Party in Rajya Sabha. Abdullah is also the CEO of Mohammed Ali Jauhar University which is in Rampur. He has declared total assets of worth 47 lakhs and other assets worth Rs 35,000.
Abdullah in Suar is pitted against Bahujan Samaj Party’s (BSP’s) Muhammad Kazim Ali ‘Khan, a descendant of Rampur nawab and to this Khan’s son had said that he would love to continue the old political rivalry with nawabs of Rampur.
After senior Khan declared that his son would be contesting from Suar, he immediately released Rs 300 crore for roads and drains. Abdullah had said that he focus will remain only one infrastructure, roads, electricity, and education.
An MP-MLA court in UP's Rampur sentenced Samajwadi Party leader Azam Khan his wife Tazeen Fatima and son Abdullah Azam to the maximum seven-year prison sentence.
The case was filed by Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Akash Saxena and has been registered owing to suspicion of false and coded documents submitted for the passport.
