Every 4th two wheeler sold in India is a scooter and in India that makes for a massive market. Scooters have always been a popular choice for the urban commuter right from the Bajaj Chetak days. They are convenient, practical and extremely easy to ride especially in our congested stop and go conditions. So while scoots were always at the top of the charts for convenience and utility, they were never really bought for style or making a statement, until now! What we have year are two scooters that break the mind-set about scooters just being just cheap means of convenient transport. With price tags higher than a few 150cc motorcycles these are premium scooters which do everything that scooters are known for but with a bit of pizazz. On one side we have the latest from the Italian stables, the Vespa S and on the other end there is the Honda Activa 125 which has to uphold its predecessor’s reputation as pretty much the definition of the modern scooter for us Indians.
