Ae Dil Hai Mushkil is Karan Johars directorial venture after the hugely successful Student of The Year. A Diwali release, the film will hit the theatres on October 28. The teaser was appreciated by everyone from Shah Rukh Khan to Aamir Khan. Even Salman Khan reportedly saw the teaser and praised Aishwarya Rai Bachchan.The film stars Ranbir Kapoor, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Anushka Sharma and Fawad Khan in a special role. There are reports that Shah Rukh Khan will also been seen in the film in extended cameo. Two more actors from Pakistan and Deepti Naval also feature in the film. There were rumours that Ae Dil Hai Mushkil was inspired from Yash Chopra produced Doosra Aadmi starring Rishi Kapoor, Rakhi and Neetu Singh. But Karan Johar has denied that his film was based on the Ramesh Talwar directed love story.Ranbir Kapoor plays a singer in the film and Arijit Singh has sung all the songs for him in the film. This is perhaps the second time after Rockstar that Ranbir has got a single male playback singer. Mohit Chauhan sang all the A R Rahman composed songs for Ranbir Kapoor in the Imtiaz Ali directed film.This is the first time that Karan Johar is working with music director Pritam. He has given music for Dharma Productions Yeh Jawani Hai Deewani. Karan Johar began his movie career with Kuch Kuch Hota Hai with music by Jatin-Lalit. The music is played till today. His next film Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham had music by Jatin-Lalit and Sandesh Shandilya while Kabhi Alvida Na Kehna and My Name Is Khan had Shankar-Ehsaan and Loy scoring the music. For Student of The Year Karan Johar joined hands with Vishal-Shekhar. Since Ae Dil Hai Mushkil has Ranbir playing the role of a singer, Pritam has a huge task on his hands.The film has been more in news for wrong reasons than the right ones. The film clashes with Ajay Devgns directorial venture Shivaay. Devgn charged Karan Johar with sabotaging his film and joining hands with Kamaal R Khan, whom Devgn alleged was paid Rs 25 lakh to run a negative campaign against his film. Johar refused to comment on this as Devgn also produced audio recording of Khan in conversation and saying about Rs 25 lakh. Later Khan denied the charge and said he was referring to the figure just to make the other person in the conversation understand something.The last time Karan Johar tackled such a mature subject was Kabhi Alvida Na Kehna and the film failed at the box office. The film dealt with marital discord but failed to connect with audience. Though the music of the film is still liked by people, the Shah Rukh Khan, Rani Mukherjee, Abhishek Bachchan, Priety Zinta and Amitabh Bachchan starrer film tanked at the box office. Johar came back with something he is good at a candyfloss romance inside a school campus.Student of The Year brought Karan Johar back into limelight. Ae Dil Hai Mushkil is his biggest test.
