Akhil Akkineni

Akhil Akkineni is an Indian actor who works predominantly in the Telugu film industry. His first big-screen appearance was as a child artist in his father's production Sisindri in 1995 and made his lead debut in 2015 in the movie Akhil.

Akhil, who comes from a family of actors, had during his teens pursued cricket and his match-winning half-century in the final against Venkatesh Daggubati's Warriors, saw him get called to play for the Telugu Warriors in the inaugural Celebrity Cricket League (CCL) in 2011.

FILMS:

Before making his debut in 2015, Akhil had made a cameo appearance in the 2014 Telugu movie Manam, which had been produced by the Akkineni Family under the Annapurna Studios banner. In 2016, he made another cameo appearance in the Telugu movie Aatadukundam Raa, and in 2017, he starred alongside actress Kalyani Priyadarshan in the movie Hello, which was again produced under the Annapurna Studios banner. He made his singing debut with the song Yevevo from the movie Hello.

Akhil then starred alongside Nidhhi Agerwal in the 2019 movie Mr. Majnu, which was well-received by critics. He also will feature in a movie directed by Bhaskaran Natarajan, popularly known as Bommarillu Bhaskar, in 2020.

AWARDS:

Akhil won the Filmfare Award South for Best Child Actor for his role in 1995 movie Sisindri. Then in 2016, he won the Filmfare Award South for Best Male Debut – South, the SIIMA Award for Best Debut Actor, the CineMAA Award for Best Male Debut, and the Santosham Film Award for Best Debut Actor, for the movie Akhil. In 2019, he won the TSR – TV9 National Film Award - Special Jury Award for movie Hello.

PERSONAL LIFE:

Akhil Akkineni was born on April 8, 1994 in San Jose, California to actors Akkineni Nagarjuna and Amala Mukherjee. He studied at Chaitanya Vidyalaya and then at Oakridge International School in Hyderabad, Telangana, and then at the age of 16 enrolled in an acting course at the Lee Strasberg Theatre and Film Institute in New York.
