Maruti Suzuki Alto becomes India's top-selling car for the fifth time in a row

Indian largest carmaker Maruti Suzuki’s popular entry level hatchback Alto yet again emerged as the top-selling car in India for the fifth consecutive month in 2015. This is a commendable feat for Alto as the car has stayed glued to the best-selling car position for nearly a decade now. Last month in May 2015, Maruti sold 22,595 units of the car.

In order to promote pollution free motoring, Maruti Suzuki India is offering special offers on the CNG variants of Wagon R and Alto K10 under their “ZABARDAST JUNE” campaign. The scheme offers wagon R buyers with benefits such as a consumer offer of INR 35,000, plus an exchange bonus of INR 20,000 along with the corporate offer of INR 2,100. The 1.0 litre, 3 cylinder, 998 cc engine promises to offer a mileage of 26.6km/kg with the clean fuel.

Maruti Suzuki Alto Recalled: Maruti recalls over 33,000 units of Alto 800, Alto K10 over defective door latches

Country's largest car maker Maruti Suzuki India has announced the recall of 33,098 units of its entry level car models Alto 800 and Alto K10 in order to rectify defective latches on the right side doors. The key problem here seems to be with door latch assembly that could spontaneously pop open while driving if not closed properly. Maruti will be specifically recalling cars that were manufactured between December 8, 2014 and February 18, 2015. The company will proactively inspect and replace the 'right hand door latch assembly' of 19,780 units of Alto 800 and 13,318 units of Alto K10, Maruti Suzuki India (MSI) said in a statement.
