Amrita Rao

Amrita Rao is an Indian actress and model who has featured in a number of Hindi movies and a few television shows. She made her movie debut in 2002 in the Bollywood movie Ab Ke Baras alongside newcomer Arya Babbar. She has also won some awards for her roles and been nominated for a few others.

Where television is concerned, Amrita was a co-judge on reality show Perfect Bride that aired on STAR Plus in 2009, and in 2016, she starred in television series Meri Awaaz Hi Pehchaan Hai, a musical drama.

2002 TO 2006:

Amrita made a special appearance in the 2002 movie The Legend of Bhagat Singh and then starred in 2003 movie Ishq Vishk. In 2004, she starred in three films, namely, Masti, Main Hoon Na (Nominated for Filmfare Award for Best Supporting Actress), and Deewaar. She then went on to star in 2005 movie Vaah! Life Ho Toh Aisi!, followed by Shikhar the same year. In 2006, she starred in Pyare Mohan, and Vivah, which was a huge commercial success for her and Shahid Kapoor then.

2007 TO 2010:

In 2007, Amrita made a special appearance in the song Heyy Babyy from the movie with the same name, and the same year she made her Telugu debut with the movie Athidhi. In 2008, Amrita starred in My Name Is Anthony Gonsalves, Shaurya, and Welcome to Sajjanpur. The next year, 2009, she starred in sports film Victory, Short Kut: The Con Is On, and then made a special appearance in Life Partner. She made another special appearance in the movie Jaane Kahan Se Aayi Hai in 2010.

2011 TO 2020:

Amrita then went on to star in Love U...Mr. Kalakaar! (2011), Jolly LLB (2013), Singh Saab the Great (2013), Satyagraha (2013), and Thackeray (2019). In 2020, she has two movies that are coming up - The Legend Of Kunal and Satsang.

AWARDS:

Apart from being nominated, Amrita also won three awards for her movie roles. She won the IIFA award for Star Debut of the Year – Female, and Stardust Award for Superstar of Tomorrow – Female in the year 2004 for her role in movie Ishq Vishk, and in 2009, the Stardust Award for Best Actress for her role in Welcome to Sajjanpur.

PERSONAL LIFE:

Amrita Rao was born on June 7, 1981 in Pune, Maharashtra to Deepak Rao and Kanchan Rao, and she has one sister. She attended the Canossa Convent High School in Mumbai, and then Sophia College in Mumbai. She is married to Anmol Sood, who is a Radio Jockey.
