Arijit Singh was born on 25 April, 1987, in Jiaganj Azimganj, Murshidabad. He is a playback singer in Bollywood who is known for his soulful voice. Arijit Singh has been one of the most popular singers in Hindi films since his debut song Phir Mohabbat from Murder 2 in 2011. The song, composed by Mithoon, was a chartbuster and thereafter Arijit Singh has delivered several top ranking numbers in Bollywood, including Tum Hi Ho, Chahun Main Ya Naa, Muskurane, Khamoshiyan, Samjhawan, Sooraj Dooba Hai, Gerua, Janam Janam, Soch Na Sake, Ae Dil Hai Mushkil, Channa Mereya, Kabhi Jo Baadal Barse, Suno Na Sangemarmar, Ilahi, Sanam Re, Mast Magan, Bolna, Sawan Aaya Hai, Nashe Si Chadh Gayi, Baaton Ko Teri, Hamari Adhuri Kahani, Enna Sona, Dilliwaali Girlfriend, Palat, Dharkhaast, Naina, Kabira, Zaalima, Yeh Ishq Hai, Alvida, Baatein Ye Kabhi Na, Humdard, Beech Beech Mein, Safar and more.

Arijit Singh was a contestant on the music reality show Fame Gurukul but was eliminated at the sixth position. However, his voice was loved by filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali and Tips owner Kumar Taurani. Bhansali gave Arijit Singh a break with the song Yun Shabnami in Saawariya (2007), which was Ranbir Kapoor and Sonam Kapoor's debut film in Bollywood. However, Yun Shabnami was never used in Saawariya. Arijit then recorded an album for Kumar Taurani but it was not released. Arijit Singh went back to his home town but returned to struggle in Bollywood, working as a a music programmer with music composer Pritam Chakraborty. Arijit Singh also competed in the reality show 10 Ke 10 Le Gaye Dil, and was announced the winner.

Arijit Singh is married to Koel Roy, which is his second marriage. The couple got married on 21 January, 2014, after Arijit Singh divorced his first wife (also said to be named Koyel) in 2013. The details of both his marriages are hush-hush, but we do know that Koel Roy is his childhood sweetheart.
