The Rajasthan High Court has allowed six-month interim bail to self-styled godman Asaram Bapu on medical grounds. The 82-year-old Asaram, who is serving a life sentence after being convicted of rape, was given bail after his lawyers filed a plea with medical reports of various ailments which he needs treatment for outside jail

Rajasthan has turned into a fortress ahead of the verdict in Asaram Bapu rape case. The Jodhpur Schedule Caste and Schedule Tribe Court will deliver its verdict in the rape case against the self-styled godman on April 25, i.e., tomorrow.

If convicted, Asaram faces a maximum sentence of 10 years. The self-proclaimed godman is facing charges of sexual assault in Gujarat as well. Earlier, the Supreme Court had refused to grant bail to Asaram on various grounds in the two sexual assault cases.
