Bal Keshav Thackeray (23 January 1926- 17 November 2012) popularly known as Balasaheb founded the Shiv Sena, a right-wing Marathi ethnocentric party mainly active in Maharashtra. Thackeray began his career as a cartoonist with the English language daily The Free Press Journal in Mumbai . He later founded Shiv Sena . He was the founder of the Marathi-language newspaper Saamana and the Hindi-language newspaper Dopahar ka saamana. Thackeray was accused of inciting violence against Muslims during the 1992-1993 Mumbai riots. He is known for his aggressive speeches against Muslims.
