Charlize Theron is a South African and American actress and producer who works predominantly in the English film and television industries. She made her debut in 1995 with movie Children of the Corn III: Urban Harvest, and her television debut in 1997 in film Hollywood Confidential.

A recipient of various awards, which include an Academy Award, and a Golden Globe Award, Charlize came into international prominence in the 1990s by playing the leading lady in the Hollywood films The Devil's Advocate (1997), Mighty Joe Young (1998), and The Cider House Rules (1999).

OTHER WORKS:

She created the Charlize Theron Africa Outreach Project (CTAOP) in 2007 in an effort to support African youth in the fight against HIV/AIDS, and in 2008 was named as a United Nations Messenger of Peace. She is involved in women's rights organizations and also is a supporter of animal rights and an active member of PETA.

PERSONAL LIFE:

Charlize Theron was born on August 7, 1975 in Benoni, South Africa to Gerda Maritz and Charles Theron and is an only child. She attended the attended Putfontein Primary School (Laerskool Putfontein), and at thirteen was sent to boarding school, and began her studies at the National School of the Arts in Johannesburg. She has two children, who she adopted in 2012 and 2015.
