Chennaiyin FC is Chennai based, Indian Super League football franchise which is owned by Indian cricketer Mahendra Singh Dhoni, Bollywood actor Abhishek Bachchan and Vita Dani. Chennayin FC play their home matches at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Chennai nicknamed the Marina Arena, which is located at Sydenhams Road, Park Town. Chennaiyin won their first Indian Super League fixture on 15 Oct 2014 with a 21 victory at FC Goa. Chennaiyin FC reached till the semi final stage and were then knocked out in the opening season of ISL in 2014. They came back stronger in next season and finished the unfinished business by lifting the ISL trophy in 2015. They will enter the third season of the ISL as defending champions. Even though Chennaiyin FC started on a wrong foot and lost 6 of their 10 matches in starting of the 2015 season, they bounced back and finished 3rd in the league which was enough to enter knockout stage. They only conceded 19 goals throughout the second season of ISL which was least compared to any other team and also managed to keep the most number of clean sheets i.e. 6.Chennaiyin FC will be coached by former Italian World Cup winning defender Marco Materazz who served as a player-coach in the first season, and turned into full-time manager last year.Key Players for Chennaiyin FC in this season will be Nigerian striker Dudu Omagbemi - who has scored 73 goals in 89 appearances for I-League side Sporting Clube de Goa ,midfielder Manuele Blasi, experienced winger and Champions League winner John Arne Riise who left Delhi Dynamos to join Chennaiyin FC campaign in upcoming season of ISL.
