ARAI launches its new crash test facility in Chakan, Pune

The Automotive Research Association of Indian or ARAI has inaugurated an all-new crash test facility in Chakan near Pune. The report says that the new facility can be utilised by Indian automotive manufacturers to carry out their testing and research. According to sources a total amount of INR 210 crore were invested to build the facility.

Toyota develops new virtual crash test to replicate human reactions before crash

Japanese auto major Toyota Motors has been among those few carmakers known for offering world class safety features in their cars. In an attempt to further enhance its safety offerings, Toyota has developed an improved version of its software called THUMS - a virtual human modelling that replicates pre-collision reactions that actual human beings tend to do.

All the cars received zero-star adult protection ratings. Volkswagen has since decided to offer the Polo for sale in India with two airbags as standard. This model subsequently received a four-star safety rating.
