Earlier, the 6th pay commission had recommended the fitment ratio at 1.86 %, while the 7th CPC recommended 2.57%, at which the Central government employees are being paid at present.

7th Pay Commission: The combined impact on the exchequer on account of both Dearness Allowance and Dearness Relief will be Rs 9,544.50 crore per annum. This will benefit about 47.68 lakh central government employees and 68.62 lakh pensioners.

Dearness Allowance News: The current DA rates stand at 31 per cent of the Basic Pay. In October 2021, the Ministry of Finance increased the DA by 3 per cent for the central government employees.
