Powered by an all-new diesel engine wholly developed by Maruti Suzuki, the Celerio Diesel sports the smallest and most fuel efficient oil burner in India with a mileage of 27.62 kmpl. Ban on Diesel Vehicles in Delhi: NGT extends stay on its order banning 10 year old diesel vehicles till July 13

The National Green Tribunal today extended the stay on its order banning plying of over 10-year-old diesel vehicles in Delhi-NCR till 13th July 2015. The green panel has now listed the matter for final hearing on that day while asking the Centre and Delhi government to file their reply within three weeks on the reasons for non-compliance of its earlier order.

New plea in NGT seeks RORO service for commercial vehicle in Delhi

In order to curb air pollution caused by vehicles in Delhi-NCR, a plea was today moved in the National Green Tribunal seeking introduction of RORO (roll-on roll-off) service for commercial vehicles which are more than 10 years old. RORO (roll-on roll-off) is a service that enables loaded trucks to be carried directly on railway wagons between two destinations. A bench headed by NGT Chairperson Justice Swatanter Kumar issued a notice to the Ministry of Railways and sought their reply by May 18. The bench also said that, "There are no trains for human beings, you want it for trucks. No train enters railway station in capital on its time.”

Ban on Petrol, Diesel Vehicles: Govt moves NGT seeking stay on its order to ban older petrol and diesel cars

Government today moved the National Green Tribunal seeking stay of its ban orders on 15-yr-old petrol and 10-yr-old diesel vehicles from plying in Delhi-NCR on the ground that it would affect public and essential services. The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways, in its plea, has said that most countries adopt fitness tests, including emission checks, of vehicle as a criterion for curbing pollution and not the age of the vehicle. Additional Solicitor General Pinky Anand, appearing for the ministry told the bench headed by NGT Chairperson Justice Swatanter Kumar that there are only 7 per cent vehicles over 10 years while the number of vehicles under 10 years is 93 per cent.

Ban on Diesel Vehicles in Delhi: Delhi government to monitor emission levels for diesel-run vehicles older than 5 years

Following the decision of ban on diesel-run vehicles older than 10 years in the National Capital, Delhi government has decided to conduct random inspection of diesel-run vehicles older than 10 years and 5 years, to monitor the actual status of their emission levels. According to the plan, the government will examine emissions of 100 vehicles each in the two age categories. The move comes after truckers claimed that their vehicles, which have fitness certificates, do not cause much pollution and their emission are within the limit.
