Diljit Dosanjh

Diljit Dosanjh is an Indian singer, actor, television presenter and social media celebrity who works predominantly in the Punjabi and Hindi film industry. As a singer, he released his first album Ishq Da Uda Ada in 2004, and as an actor, he made his Punjabi film debut in 2011 with The Lion of Punjab, and his Hindi movie debut in 2016 with Udta Punjab which earned him the Filmfare Award for Best Male Debut.

Apart from singing and acting, Diljit also featured on television shows as a presenter from 2010 to 2019. The shows included Awaaz Punjab Di, PTC Punjabi Film Awards 2012/2013/2014, Rising Star Season 1 to 3.

Where songs are concerned, Dilijit has sung over 40 and has around 13 albums to his name. Some of his albums are Ishq Da Uda Adaa, Dil, Smile, Ishq Ho Gaya, Chocolate, The Next Level, Sikh, Urban Pendu, Back 2 Basics, Sikh 2, CON.FI.DEN.TIAL, Roar, and Pinkly featuring JSL Singh, Ikka, Deep Jandu. As a Punjabi singer he sang the song Warrant from the movie Dharti in 2011, then most of the songs in the movie The Lion of Punjab, and more than half of the songs in the movie Jihne Mera Dil Luteya.

Diljit was also the singer in a number of Hindi movies, like, Tere Naal Love Ho Gaya (2012), Mere Dad Ki Maruti (2013), Yamla Pagla Deewana 2 (2013), Singh Is Bliing (2015), Udta Punjab (2016), Phillauri (2017), Noor (2017), Raabta (2017), Jab Harry Met Sejal (2017), Soorma (2018), Welcome to New York (2018), and Arjun Patiala (2019).

PUNJABI MOVIES:

From 2011 to 2019, Diljit starred in 13 Punjabi movies, namely, The Lion of Punjab, Jihne Mera Dil Luteya, Jatt & Juliet, Saadi Love Story, Jatt & Juliet 2, Disco Singh, Punjab 1984, Sardaar Ji, Mukhtiar Chadha, Ambarsariya, Sardaar Ji 2, Super Singh, Sajjan Singh Rangroot, and Shadaa. In 2020, he will be seen in the movie Jodi, which will also mark his debut as a producer.

HINDI MOVIES:

Diljit made his Hindi movie debut in 2016 with Udta Punjab and followed it with Phillauri in 2017, Welcome to New York and Soorma in 2018, and Arjun Patiala in 2019. His next is 2019 movie Good Newwz, in which he stars alongside Akshay Kumar, Kareena Kapoor Khan, and Kiara Advani.

AWARDS:

Diljit is a recipient of numerous awards, which he earned for both his acting and singing and they include PTC Punjabi Film Awards, Filmfare Award, Punjabi International Film Academy Award, Filmfare Award Punjabi, PTC Punjabi Music Awards, Brit Asia TV Music Awards, Brit Asia TV World Music Awards, and Mirchi Music Award.

PERSONAL LIFE:

Diljit Dosanjh was born on January 6, 1984 in Dosanjh Kalan in Jalandhar, Punjab to Balbir Singh and Sukhwinder Kaur, and he has two siblings. He completed his formal education from Ludhiana, Punjab, earning a high school diploma from Shri Guru Harkrishan Public School. He is married to Sandeep Kaur with whom he has a son.
