Farah Khan

Farah Khan Kunder is an Indian film director, film producer, actress, dancer and choreographer who works predominantly in the Hindi film industry. She is very well known for her choreographic dance work in Bollywood films, evident by the awards she has won over the years.

Her first known work was in 1992 movie Jo Jeeta Wohi Sikandar when choreographer Saroj Khan walked out of the film, after that she has choreographed dance routines for more than a hundred songs in over 80 Hindi films. She was also a co-judge, co-host and host on a number of reality television shows.

FILMS:

In 1998, Farah had a cameo role and extra appearances in Kuch Kuch Hota Hai, which had starred Shah Rukh Khan, Kajol, Rani Mukerji. She then made an appearance in movie Kal Ho Naa Ho in 2003. In 2004, she was actor, director and scriptwriter for movie Main Hoon Na, and the same in 2007 for movie Om Shanti Om.

She made a special appearance as herself in movie Jaane Kahan Se Aayi Hai in 2010, and in the same year directed movie Tees Maar Khan for which she was also the scriptwriter, and then had a cameo in Khichdi: The Movie. In 2012, she made a special appearance in movie Joker for which she was also the producer, and then starred in Shirin Farhad Ki Toh Nikal Padi alongside Boman Irani, Kavin Dave, Shammi, Kurush Deboo and Daisy Irani. The same year she did a cameo in movie Student of the Year.

Farah was director and scriptwriter for movie Happy New Year in 2014 and did a cameo appearance in the end credits, and in 2016, she made a guest appearance in Tamil movie Devi.

PERSONAL LIFE:

Farah Khan was born on January 9, 1965 in Mumbai, Maharashtra to Kamran Khan, a stuntman-turned-filmmaker, and Menaka Irani and she has one brother, Sajid Khan. She studied at the St. Teresa's Convent in Mumbai and then at St. Xaviers College. She is married to Shirish Kunder and together they have triplets, a boy and two girls.

OTHER WORKS:

She has also worked on international projects, such as Marigold: An Adventure in India, Monsoon Wedding, Bombay Dreams and the Chinese films Perhaps Love and Kung Fu Yoga.

AWARDS:

Farah received the Filmfare Award for Best Choreography for the song Dhol Bajne Laga from movie Virasat in 1997, Filmfare Award for Best Choreography for the song Chaiyya Chaiyya from movie Dil Se.. in 1998. Her next was Filmfare Award for Best Choreography for the song Ek Pal Ka Jeena from 2000 movie Kaho Naa... Pyaar Hai, in 2001 the Filmfare Award for Best Choreography for the song Woh Ladki Hai Kahan from movie Dil Chahta Hai.

In 2003, she won the Filmfare Award for Best Choreography for the song Idhar Chala Main Udhar Chala and National Film Award for Best Choreography for the movie Koi... Mil Gaya. In 2005, the Golden Horse Award for Best Action Choreography for Hong Kong musical film Perhaps Love, and in 2010 the Filmfare Award for Best Choreography for the song Sheila Ki Jawani from movie Tees Maar Khan.
