WHO Director-General Declares Monkeypox Outbreak As Global Health Emergency; Full Statement Here

Since Thursday, monkeypox experts have been discussing whether the World Health Organization (WHO) should classify the outbreak as a global health emergency. Earlier this week, WHO chief Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus said that more than 70 countries have reported about 14,000 confirmed cases of monkeypox infections. In addition, five deaths have also been reported in Africa adding that the global health agency is increasing efforts to curb the spread of infectious disease.
