Maruti Suzuki India today launched the new Ciaz smart diesel hybrid in India priced at INR 8.23 – 10.17 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi). Touted to be the country’s first smart hybrid, the new Ciaz in backed by company’s Smart Hybrid Vehicle by Suzuki (SHVS) and returns a striking fuel efficiency of 28.09 kmpl. As for competition though the Ciaz SHVS doesn’t have a direct contender, it is still accompanied in the Indian market by other hybrid/electric vehicles from Mahindra Reva to BMW i8.

Maruti Suzuki, India's largest carmaker has finally launched the much-awaited Maruti Ciaz SHVS Diesel hybrid in the country. Priced at INR 8.23 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi), the Ciaz SHVS is now officially the country's most fuel efficient car. It is claimed to return an impressive 28.09kmpl of fuel efficiency, which is around 1.88kmpl more than the standard diesel Ciaz.

Maruti Suzuki India is launching the much awaited Ciaz mild hybrid today. Powered by the company all new SHVS (Smart Hybrid Vehicle by Suzuki) technology the new hybrid Ciaz will be Maruti’s first hybrid car for the Indian market. Being the first diesel hybrid in India the car will replace the standard diesel Ciaz in Maruti Suzuki’s current line up. As for price, Maruti is likely to add a premium of nearly INR 50,000 over the standard diesel Ciaz.

We reported earlier that Maruti will launch the Maruti Ciaz SHVS Diesel Hybrid in the country in Setember, 2015. Now, MSI has officially announce the launch the Ciaz hybrid in India on September 1, 2015. The company has already started dispatching the sedan to its dealerships around the country, and few dealers have already started taking pre-orders for the car. MSI dealers are also offering a discount of up to 40,000 on the standard Ciaz, which could be the move to exhaust stock.

Toyota chairman Takeshi Uchiyamada today said over 80 per cent of its Camry sales in the country are the hybrid version of the premium sedan. "Globally, India is the ninth country to manufacture our hybrid vehicles. After the launch of the all new Camry hybrid in May 2015, its popularity has only grown further. At present, the Camry Hybrid constitutes more than 80 per cent of the total Camry sales in India," Uchiyamada said.
