Kartik Aaryan

Kartik Aaryan, born Kartik Tiwari, is an Indian actor who stars in the Hindi film industry. He made his acting debut in 2011 with Bollywood movie Pyaar Ka Punchnama, which was directed by Luv Ranjan and also starred Raayo S. Bakhirta, Divyendu Sharma, Nushrat Bharucha, Sonnalli Seygall and Ishita Raj Sharma. The film got mixed reviews but did well at the box office.

He did not star in any movie the following year, but in 2013 Kartik starred in Akaash Vani alongside Nushrat Bharucha. The movie got positive reviews but did not perform well commercially. In 2014, he starred in Kaanchi: The Unbreakable, which also had actors Mishti, Rishi Kapoor and Mithun Chakraborty. The film received mixed reviews and was not able to do well at the box office.

After Akaash Vani and Kaanchi: The Unbreakable failed to propel his career forward, Kartik then starred in 2015 movie Pyaar Ka Punchnama 2, which is a sequel to his debut movie of the same name. The movie, which also starred Omkar Kapoor, Sunny Singh, Nushrat Bharucha, Ishita Raj Sharma and Sonnalli Seygall, got mixed reviews from critics but it performed well at the box office.

In 2016, Kartik played the lead role along with Meher Mistry in short film Silvat, which had a total run time of 42 minutes. Then in 2017, he starred in Guest iin London, which is a sequel to the 2010 film Atithi Tum Kab Jaoge? starring Ajay Devgn. The movie, which also starred actors Paresh Rawal, Kriti Kharbanda and Tanvi Azmi, however, got negative reviews and failed to perform well at the box office.

The much-needed breakthrough for Kartik came when he starred in 2018 movie Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety. It was the fourth collaboration between director Luv Ranjan and Kartik and Nushrat Bharucha. The movie got mixed reviews but it was a huge commercial success.

Following the success of Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety, Kartik acted in 2019 romantic comedy Luka Chuppi alongside Kriti Sanon. Directed by Laxman Utekar, the film got positive reviews and did very well at the box office.

With his acting career picking up, Kartik's next will be Pati, Patni Aur Woh opposite Bhumi Pednekar and Ananya Panday. The 2019 movie is a remake of the 1978 film of the same name. Apart from that, he will also star in Imtiaz Ali's romantic drama opposite Sara Ali Khan. The movie is scheduled to be released on February 14, 2020.

Personal Life:

Kartik was born on November 22, 1990 in Gwalior, Madhya Pradesh to parents who are both doctors. While his father is a paediatrician, his mother is a gynaecologist. Kartik completed his education in 2012 from DY Patil College of Engineering at the insistence of his mother and earned himself an engineering degree in biotechnology.

Early Life:

Kartik had secretly harboured a desire to become an actor even before he completed his studies, and he revealed that he would skip his classes and travel for two hours to attend auditions. He even began modelling while he was still in university and kept on going for auditions for films. But after being unsuccessful for three years, he took up an acting course at the Kreating Charakters institute.

Kartik did not tell his parents about wanting to pursue a career in acting until he had signed his first film, which happened while he was still in his third year of college.

Other Interests:

Apart from films, Kartik also endorses various brands and products and has appeared in a number of magazines. He is also a member of the All Stars Football Club, which organises football matches for charity, and in 2019, he was appointed by the Election Commission of India to raise awareness on voter participation in his home state of Madhya Pradesh.
