TheKathua rape and murder case saw an in-camera trial which went on for a year. The trial was shifted to Pathankot in Punjab after lawyers in Kathua attempted to prevent submission of the charge sheet in court.

The Apex Court also ordered a transfer of accused in the case from Kathua district jail to Gurdaspur district jail in Punjab citing exceptional circumstances, DNA reported.It must be noted that senior advocate Santokh Singh Basra from Punjab was appointed as a special public prosecutor in the controversial Kathua rape and murder case on May 25.

"I miss my daughter everyday," said the father of the 8-year-old girl who was allegedly abducted, drugged, raped and killed in Jammu and Kashmir's Kathua in January this year. The man, who is running from pillar to post to ensure justice for his daughter, has demanded death penalty for the culprits.
