Kerala Blasters FC is a professional football club and it represents Kerala in the Indian Super League. The team is owned by the legendary Indian cricketer Sachin Tendulkar and Prasad Potluri who is the founder and owner of PVP Cinema. The South Indian superstars Chiranjivi and Nagarjuna also haves shares of the team. The clubs home stadium is Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium, Kochi. The name of the team is inspired by the co-owner of the team Sachin Tendulkar who is also known as the Master Blaster.On 22 July Construction of the team started for the first season when the Kerala Blasters, along with the other seven franchises, took part in the domestic draft to select the first fourteen Indian players in each team. Mehtab Hossain who played India International was the first draft pick made by Kerala Blasters and thus he became the first player in Kerala Blasters history. At the end of the draft, the Blasters were composed of fourteen players, including Hossain: Avinabo Bag, Sandip Nandy, Chinadorai Sabeeth, Luis Barreto, Milagres Gonsalves,Ramandeep Singh, Renedy Singh, Sandesh Jhingan, Ishfaq Ahmed, Gurwinder Singh, Nirmal Chettri, Sushanth Mathew, and Godwin Franco. David James was announced as the first head coach of the Kerala Blasters on 13 August 2014, who is a former England international goalkeeper and the first marquee player in team history, thus coming in as a player-head coach. Then, on 21 August 2014, the team participated in the international draft in which each team selected seven foreign players to join their team. Former Newcastle United forward Michael Chopra was the first foreign player drafted by the Kerala Blasters. The team also picked up Local Talent Duleep Menon for the inaugural season of ISL.Kerala blasters played their first match at the Indira Gandhi Athletic Stadium on 13th Oct 2014 against the North East United FC. Kerala blaster lost 1-0 in their first match when North east scored a goal in the 45th minute. In the second match the Canadian international Iain Hume scored a goal but they could not win against Chennaiyin, they lost 1-2. Kerala blasters got their first victory in the fourth game against Pune city. The Kerala blasters played their first home game gainst Goa on 6th November at Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in front of 49,517 fans. Milagres Gonsalves scored a goal which led the Blaster to their first home win. Next they won 1-0 against Pune and qualified for the playoffs. They played their first finals against the southern rivals Chennaiyan. The Kerala blasters won the first in a great fashion with a victory of 3-0 even when they were not the favorites in the game. But in the second leg even when Blasters had an advantage of 3-0 the Chennai tied the game by 3-3 and it was a tie. In extra time however the Blasters managed to strike back and StepHen Pearson scored a match winning goal and they won 4-3 and entered the finals. The Final was at DY Patil stadium in Mumbai and the match had no goals until the 95 minute but Mohammed Rafique scored a deciding goal in the last moment and won the finals for Atletico de Kolkata.In the Second edition of Indian Super League David James announced that he wouldnt be returning to the team as head coach and former England under 20 head Coach Peter Taylor will take over. Blasters also had to make a new marquee player after the departure of James. Later in august it was announced that former international Spanish Carlos Marchena would be signed as the new marquee for the club. For the second season they also managed to sign former BPL players Peter Ramage, Stepen Baywater, Bruno Perone and Sanchez watt. The fan favorite Pilga was the only foreign footballer retained by the club. In the second edition the blasters only managed to win one out of the first six games and Taylor was sacked and was by Irishman Terry Phelan. Marchena left the team after playing only one match due some personal reasons, the team then managed to recruit Scottish forward James McFadden as a replacement.
