Mitsubishi Motors, the Japanese automaker is reportedly working on the next generation Lancer. This popular sedan has been phased out from Indian market long ago, but the car enjoys a huge fan base among enthusiasts. Interestingly, Mitsubishi Motors North America executive vice president Don Swearingen has confirmed that the company has started working on the next generation Lancer.

Leading Japanese automaker Mitsubishi has unveiled the final edition of its flagship rally and motorsports legend, Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution. The Japanese automaker will be building only 1000 units of the Evo Final Edition, which will be exclusively sold only in Japan. The current Lancer Evolution X has been in the Japanese market since 2007 and in the U.S. since 2008, which is apparently a good amount of time according to automotive standards. Also with the Lancer Evolution Final Edition we will be bid adieu to the sneaky-fast turbo sedans, which has helped establish its own special segment in market for over two decades. As the era of Evos comes to its end, Mitsubishi will now channel its focus more towards development of electric vehicles for which it sees a bright future.
