Mahindra Reva Unveils All-Electric Mahindra e2o: Company prices the vehicle at INR 5.59 lakh

Mahindra Reva Electric Vehicles Pvt Ltd, a part of the USD 16.9 billion Mahindra Group, today unveiled its all-electric, fully automatic, zero-emission car 'Mahindra e2o'. Arvind Mathew, Chief Executive Officer, Mahindra Reva said the technologically laden e2o is attractively priced at INR 5.59 lakh (ex-showroom Hyderabad) including the Government's FAME Demand Incentive.

Today on the eve of Earth Day 2015, homegrown electric carmaker Mahindra Reva has introduced a special ‘Goodbye Fuel Hello Electric’ plan, under which it offers its popular electric car Reva e2o at a starting price of INR 4.79 lakh (ex-showroom Bengaluru). Under the scheme the company will take ownership of the car’s battery source and offers maintenance and protection plan at a starting price of INR 2,999 per month. Additionally Mahindra Reva has also announced the introduction of a new government programme that offers incentive of INR 1.24 lakh for new Reva owners.

Homegrown auto major Mahindra & Mahindra has reportedly started working on a new autonomous car. With this new project Mahindra joins the already increasing list of global marques working on similar projects like Google, Audi, Mercedes-Benz, BMW and Tesla. The new self-driving car will most likely be built in the lines of Mahindra’s electric car subsidiary Mahindra Reva. The execution of a working production model will take at least 3 to 4 years.

Mahindra & Mahindra Electric Cars: Mahindra plans to launch electric car in Europe within six months

Homegrown auto major Mahindra & Mahindra plans to launch its electric car in Europe in next six months as it looks to tap rising demand for eco-friendly vehicles in the continent. "The way electric vehicle technology is growing in Europe, we expect it to play an important role there. We are also looking at the opportunity to launch our electric vehicle there and expect to do so in next six months," Mahindra & Mahindra Chief Executive, Automotive Division, Pravin Shah told PTI.

Electric Cars in India: Electric vehicle makers say budget support is critical for their survival

Fearing closure of business, electric vehicle makers have sought government support in the Budget to give a boost to the sector saying the National Electric Mobility Mission Plan 2020 must be implemented at the earliest. "For us the roll out of NEMMP 2020 is of critical importance. If it doesn't happen in this Budget then it would be end of the road for the industry," Hero Electric CEO and Society of Manufacturers of Electric Vehicles (SMEV) Director-Corporate Affairs Sohinder Gill told PTI.
